Documentation Center’s fund is formed taking in view the chief tasks of the railway work and specialists’ demands.
Numerical strength of the fund in 2000 – 51 048 exemplars, from which:
Books – 35 078 exemplars;
Periodical editions – 3 376 exemplars;
Scientifically technical documentation – 4 297 exemplars;
Other documents – 1 760 exemplars.
The fund consists of books, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, periodical editions, instructions, training appliances, bibliography, normative documents, conferences’ materials, and standards on railway subjects and adjacent fields.
The funds of the Documentation Center are arranged directly in the Documentation Center and its branches on the railway stations in Daugavpils, Rezekne and Ventspils.
Utilization of the funds is provided by the unified system of catalogues, where the whole fund itself and specifically by the branches are reflected. Starting with the year 1999 new literature entries are introduced into the electronic catalogue.
