The history of The Central Research Institute for Information, Technical and Economic Investigations on Railway Transport of MPS -Russia (TsNIITEI MPS) dates back to 1963 year when by MPS-USSR’s order when on the basis of the Bureau of technical information of MPS Scientific-Technical Council, Department of Technical Information of the Central scientific-technical Library and the Central House for Railway Technologies the Central Institute of scientific-technical information and railway transport propaganda (TsINTI MPS-USSR) was established. In November of 1967^th TsINTI MPS-USSR was transformed into the Central scientific-research institute of information, technical-economic survey and propaganda on railway transport (TsNIITEI MPS).

On February 1^st of 2002 in view of MPS-Russia’s reorganization TsNIITEI MPS was transformed into the Division of Information, Technical and Economic Investigation on Railway Transport of the Russian Scientific-Research and Design Institute of Informatization, Automation and Communication of MPS-Russia (VNIIAS MPS-Russia)
